I am wood

I am a wooden spoon. I look nice when I’m brand new, but after the first few uses/washes, I will probably get dull, rough to the touch, and even a little fuzzy. The fuzz are my wood fibers stretching out, they’ll settle down or slough off over time. This is perfectly normal, I am wood. To care for me, you should hand wash me and towel me dry. Avoid putting me in the dishwasher or letting me air dry as this might cause me to crack or splinter. I am wood. When I am made, nothing but a little mineral oil (U.S.P. grade) is added to me to bring out my luster and to highlight my grain, because I am wood.

You can rub a little USP (United States Pharmacopoeia) mineral oil on me to bring back my camera-ready good looks. Avoid vegetable or olive oils as these can go rancid and I’ll be become gross and smelly. I am wood. A quick internet search will tell you that some nut oils are fine, like walnut and kukui nut (candlewood) oil from Hawaii. You can use these if you like, but USP mineral oil works just fine, because I’m not too delicate, I am wood.
